The New Hamburg Lioness Club

Lioness ClubThe New Hamburg Lioness Club has enjoyed 36 years of service to our community. The prime reason for being a Lioness is to help others. Working together, we have assisted many local organizations with funding raised through various ventures. The Tree of Light is our biggest fundraiser and in 2016 we will celebrate our 33rd year for this project. You will see Lioness hosting a Spring Fashion Show, assisting at a Blood Donor Clinic, or running a bake sale at the Interfaith Silent Auction in April. We always enjoy time with our Aldaview friends at music night and our Christmas Party. We help and assist the New Hamburg Lions at the Woodstock Farm Show or wherever they need a helping hand. Our motto is “WE SERVE”. We are pleased to offer our fifth New Hamburg Lioness Welcome Home Tour. All funds raised from this venture will go to Interfaith Counselling Centre and Wilmot Family Resource Centre. Being a Lioness develops long standing friendships and the personal satisfaction of knowing that the time and energy spent has served to make our community a better place.

The New Hamburg Lions Club

Lions InternationalOver the 48 years of Lions Service in New Hamburg, we have supported many important and varied requests for assistance including our support of the exciting Wilmot Recreation Complex and Aquatic Center, having completed our $75,000 pledge with a final payment on April 7, 2014. We continue this community support with our $60,000 pledge to the Wilmot Splash Pad – now known as the "New Hamburg Lions Club Splash Pad". We continue to provide the trained manpower for the July 1st, Canada Day fireworks, we host and support drug and suicide awareness and prevention programs, student eye screening at local public schools, we offer support for youth exchange programs, provide Waterloo Oxford District Secondary School student bursaries in memory of past Lions and continue to support our local Community Care Concepts "Meals on Wheels" program, Lions Dog Guide programs, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Wilmot Aquatic Aces Kid’s Triathlon, the Royal Canadian Legion, Minor hockey and Minor Soccer. The New Hamburg Lions have supported the Aldaview Training Services workshop and their residents for many years, and supported the building of their second group home for the developmentally challenged - The Phyllis Riehl Home, providing the majority of the funds of over $300,000. Our Lions club has always been an available helping hand to individuals and groups within our community. Our motto is “WE SERVE”, and service to those less fortunate has been our goal. We thank the community for their ongoing support and congratulate all who help in making New Hamburg a great place to live. New members are always warmly welcomed.
